Fireworks, Food and Fun in Arkansas Delta

July in the Arkansas Delta means the return of three beloved, long-time events and it promises to be a fun-filled month. 

Celebrate Independence Day with food, fireworks and fun at the 85th annual 4th of July Homecoming and Picnic in Piggott on July 3 and 4. Tuesday evening features carnival rides and the annual pageants. Wednesday starts with a parade at 9am. Live music, carnival rides, great food, political speakers and spectacular fireworks are on tap throughout the afternoon and evening. Call 870-598-4016 for details. 

Fun for the entire family is what you’ll find at the 68th annual Homecoming Picnic at Wynn Park in Corning on July 4. A parade through downtown kicks-off the event at 9am. Several pageants, live entertainments, games for kids and rides are also on this year’s schedule. The evening ends with a fantastic fireworks display. Learn more by calling 870-857-3874.

Have a ding-dong of a great time at the 33rd annual Ding Dong Days Festival in Dumas on July 26 and29. Watch as the Ding Dong Daddy and Ding Dong Momma are crowned. Join in for the Ding Dong eating contest. The festival also features rides and activities for children, a parade, live entertainment, and a variety of booths and concessions. Sweetwater County, Wyoming, Celebrates Green River

The action-packed 10^th Annual River Festival in Green River in Sweetwater County on August 17 and 18 is a celebration of the Green River, considered an oasis in the “High Desert Country” of southwest Wyoming. 

Festivities include recurring favorites like the Cajun Shrimp Boil, as well as new activities, vendors and live entertainment. From blues and brews to canines and cars, there is something for everyone.

Tour the garden of micro-brews under the big Corona tent when the Festival kicks off on Friday at 3pm. This is followed by the Free Kids Games when kids go wild at the time-honored festival games; the Cajun Shrimp Boil and a concert throughout the evening. Root on your lucky rubber ducky as she races down the river at the Great Duck Race.  A spectacular fireworks will wrap up the first night of the festival.

Saturday, August 18 starts at 6am with a bang as runners take off on the 8th annual Run with the Horses Marathon, a half marathon and a 10K run.

That’s followed by the Lucky 13 Horse Poker Run, a Car Show on Evers Park, free kids games, the Micro Brew Garden, a  Dog Fetching Competition, sing the blues with Blind Dog Smokin, a dog show and at 3pm the Extreme Trail Challenge.

Sweetwater County, located halfway between Yellowstone and Canyonlands National Parks in southwest Wyoming, is home to 10,500 square miles of pure, high desert adventure.
