Rovin’ with Rover on Oregon’s People’s Coast

The dog days of summer are still months away, but April is Four-Legged Friends month on The People’s Coast, Oregon.

It would be a doggone shame to miss the fetching opportunities just begging to be explored this month (and in May) on The People’s Coast. There’s the Doggie Olympics and a costume parade, special pet-friendly rates and always lots of really cool things to smell! So don’t be a heel. Collar your whole family, go for a visit – and stay! You’ll have a ball! But before you do, pause for a moment to read the regulations regarding leash requirements in Oregon’s state parks. Okay? Good boy!

Think you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Then check out the Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics in Lincoln City on May 15. Strut your stuff at the Doggie Costume Parade and then enjoy a free pontoon boat ride during Doggie Weekend at Loon Lake Resort in Reedsport. Lap up the sites and suds at Brewer’s Memorial Ale Festival, “the world’s largest dog-friendly beer festival,” in Newport. Or simply enjoy a nice old-fashioned jog with Rover on Cannon Beach.

When it’s time to stay, you won’t have a rough time finding a pet-friendly deal. The Inn at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City is offering a “doggie discount” package that includes treats, chew toys, a Frisbee and a stylish bandana. The Land’s End Motel in Cannon Beach is waiving pet fees during April. Daisy can snuggle into her very own bed and enjoy a lovely biscuit for no extra fee this month at The Best Western Pier Point Inn in Florence. And chew on this: Donating a can of food will fetch you a 20 percent discount at Fireside Motel in Yachats.
