Oshkosh Oktoberfest is returning for a second year to the Leach Amphitheater in downtown Oshkosh on September 30, October 1 and 2. The Oktoberfest weekend is filled with entertainment and activities.
Attendees will enjoy traditional German music throughout the three days from many bands including Dorf Kapelle, Tuba Dan Band, Happy Schnapps Combo, Jerry Schneider Band, Karl & the Country Dutchmen, and Oshkosh’s own Copper Box. German dancers from Milwaukee’s D’Oberlandler Dancers, a vendor shopping area, A Polka mass by the Maroszek Brothers, authentic German food from The Roxy Supper Club, and German bier will help make it a true traditional Oktoberfest celebration.
The Festival also will include an exciting raffle sponsored by Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin and a combined 2K Bier Run and Costume Contest. More activities include a cultural tent hosted by the German Club at UW-Oshkosh, children’s contests, a Masskrugstemmen (Beer Stein Holding Contest), Barrel Rolling contest, Dachshund wiener dog races, and the “Tapping of the Ceremonial Oktoberfest Keg.” The weekend will be fun for the entire family.
Oshkosh Oktoberfest is organized by Oshkosh Festivals Inc., the same non-profit organization which also hosts Oshkosh Irish Fest. Proceeds from the event help fund local charitable agencies and help build the event for future years. Generous sponsors of this event include Boat Yard Bar and Grill, Hacker-Pschorr/Paulaner Brewery, Valley Graphics, and Thundera Multimedia.
While many Wisconsin residents claim German ancestry, organizers are quick to point out that you don’t have to be German to attend the fest or to have fun. The latest updates to the weekend’s schedule and activities can be found at www.oshkoshoktoberfest.com/ .
